Cyprus has many beautiful restaurants and tavernas where people enjoy food, coffee, desserts and time with friends. In cities such as Nicosia, Kyrenia, Famagusta and Limasol, cafes are important social places. Many people meet in tavernas to feel life other than working stress in Cyprus, eat desserts and relax. Taverna culture is an important part of daily life in Cyprus.
People greatly enjoy going to taverns once a week, sometimes to chat with friends, sometimes to have fun, and sometimes to confide in someone. They offer a variety of mezes, appetizers, and meat dishes. This culture exists nowhere else in the world except Greece, Turkey, and Cyprus. While in other cultures only one type of dish is served, in our culture, symbolizing sharing, they bring a variety of fresh dishes. I can recommend Zannettos in the south of Nicosia and Eski Konak in the north. However, it’s very easy to find beautiful taverns in every district and neighborhood.
